This three movement suite is based around three songs "I Love to Tell the Story", "Wonderful Story of Love", and "You Can Tell Out the Sweet Story". The English word "wonderful" has become somewhat overused and diluted from it's original meaning. We use it to describe something good, or something we like, such as "wasn't that a wonderful meal". We forget that it's an adjective used to describe something that evokes "wonder", or something astonishing that we cannot explain or even fathom. I've eaten some pretty good food in my life, but nothing that arouses wonder or an awesome sense of mystery. That is the way it is with God's love. It is an awesome thing that we cannot begin to explain. So when we speak of the "wonderful story of love" it is a fantastic truth, and goes way beyond what we would typically call good or excellent. The next time you use the word "wonderful", think about the context. Are you describing something full of wonder, or is it merely something you thought was great?
