Gerry arranged this setting of the song "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder" in either 1968 or 1969 (early high school years). It is published here as an example of his early interest harmonic development. The scoring is intended for Eb Alto Horn, Baritone 1 and 2 (treble clef) and Eb Tuba (treble clef). This combination of "mellow" instruments is somewhat unusual for a brass quartet, and there is a subtle irony in the title "Trumpet of the Lord", perhaps a subtle humorous act revealing the mind of a high schooler. Parts are also supplied for Horn in F, Baritone 1 & 2 (bass clef), Eb Tuba (bass clef), Bb Tuba (treble clef), and Bb Tuba (bass clef).
