I Need Thee Every Hour

Play Audio Track

One of Gerry's earliest brass band arrangements, this was written just before he began his second year at Northwestern University, a few months after the Chicago Staff Band's tour of the United Kingdom in June 1972. This arrangement features the song of the same title. The lyrics of the chorus are: I need Thee, O I need Thee, Every hour I need Thee, O bless me now my Savior, I come to Thee. The piece ends peacefully with a chorus by Fanny Crosby "Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord".

In addition to the standard brass band parts, bass clef parts are also provided for 1st Baritone, 2nd Baritone, 1st Trombone, 2nd Trombone, Euphonium, Eb Bass and Bb Bass.
