This new melody uses a familiar text by Fanny Crosby (1820-1915). She was one of the most prolific song writers, with over 8000 songs to her credit, many written under 200 various pseudonyms. Blind from the age of six months, she had a keen spiritual sight. This version is more contemplative than the original tune and features an extended piano introduction before each verse. This song beautifully expresses our need to walk through life with the presence of Jesus. It is honest, expressing "my faith at best is weak". And it is filled with the hope of "reaching the vale of Jordan, til I gain the other side".
