This march is a celebration of the pivotal event in Christianity, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Based on the hymn "Up From the Grave He Arose", the first verse is presented by the mellow instruments of the band ("Low in the grave He lay, Waiting the coming day"). After a short interlude, the third verse is presented triumphantly by the bright brass ("Death cannot keep his Prey, He tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord"). Finally the chorus appears "He arose, Hallelujah Christ arose!". It is this three note phase "Hallelujah" that serves as a driving motif throughout the march.
