Hansel and Gretel is an opera based on the Grimms fairy tale of the same name. Written by 19th century composer Engelbert Humperdinck. It is much admired for its folk music-inspired themes, one of the most famous being the "Abendsegen" ("Evening Prayer") from act 2. Gerry arranged this for his wedding ceremony June 21, 1975 and it was performed by a brass sextet during the preliminary music.
