This new Brass Band Unity Series arrangement features the hymn “Blessed Assurance”, by Fanny Crosby. There are three verses and a refrain, and the musical style attempts to track the lyrics. One of the amazing things to me is that although Fanny Crosby was blind from birth, she produced thousands of songs that are full of vivid imagery, in this case “visions of rapture now burst on my sight” and “watching and waiting, looking above”. She clearly was gifted with keen spiritual sight!

Unity Series is scored for nine parts: 1st and 2nd cornets, 1st and 2nd horns, Baritone, Euphonium, Eb and Bb Bass, and Percussion. The horn parts are for Eb Alto horns. There are also parts included for Horns in F. The baritone, euphonium, and tuba parts are traditionally in transposed treble clef (for Bb instruments). Bass clef parts for these low brass instruments are provided as well (concert pitch).
