This solo was written in 1993 and is based on the chorus of "All That I Am", words and music by William Himes. The solo is published by The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory in American Soloist Album No. 8. It is available for purchase (see links on the right). A cornet solo version is also available on CD, recording by David Daws. There are two free resources available including the soloist part and a piano accompaniment track.
This following video recording features Richard Marshall, principal cornetist of the Black Dyke Band playing this solo, accompanied by The Salvation Army Amsterdam Staff Band, conductor Olaf Ritman. The brass band arrangement was transcribed by Peter van der Horden (January 2012). This performance was recorded live at the Amsterdam Staff Band's Premier Brass concert March 30, 2019.
Here is a video of Chadwick Shoults (Gerry's son), playing the solo in May 2000, accompanied by Gerry at the piano. This recording comes from a VHS tape, and was recorded at Fellowship Bible Church North in Plano, TX.
